Providing Custom Curriculums to DSE Students
Students at Lo Kon Ting Memorial College are starting a tailored English curriculum for their secondary students. Provided by Immersive Education Academy, the program will allow students to practice two key components of the HKDSE exam: (1) group discussion, and (2) individual response. Group discussions form an integral part of this curriculum in preparing students for the DSE. Using the new DSE program provided by Immersive Education Academy, students will be able to practice varying difficulty levels of DSE simulations inside and outside of class through the program’s virtual classroom and online platform. “The iEd English Online Program has provided our students plenty of opportunity to communicate with the native speakers of English through group interactions,” said Ms. Gloria Tam, a teacher from Lo Kon Ting Memorial College. Instructors from Immersive Education Academy will assist and explain the discussion sections to students and give them instant feedback in class, or comments on their online exercises.
This custom-made curriculum comes at a time when Form 3 students are approaching the DSE in 2017. In the future the program can also provide the school with more opportunities for its other students to prepare for the DSE further in advance.
The launch of this course marks an exciting new step in providing DSE takers with more learning resources. Future development of this DSE-oriented curriculum is planned as students can look forward to further integration with the DSE English syllabus.
